Selfie Stick 3.0

2015-12-31 19.32.20In the course of our travels, we have had 3 selfie sticks. This first one was quite good and lasted us until the Arizona Nevada border. The second one was quite similar, but more cheaply made. It lasted us until we went out for a curry in Brighton.

As it was toward the beginning of our time in Brighton we had no immediate access to an address, so just getting one off Amazon wouldn’t have fixed it right away. More than that, we had very little time due to our rigorous schedule of socializing. None of the options at Argos, the only suitable shop within walking distance of the hotel, looked very good, so we went for the cheapest model. It was the Cristal SS002-1 Wireless Monopod and cost £5.

Here’s the video unpackaging and test:

Who manufactures the Cristal SS002-1 Wireless Monopod? I’ve looked up Cristal, but that is a Titanium Dioxide company which doesn’t appear to manufacture mobile phone accessories and has a completely different logo.
I was given an SS002-1 for Christmas, but couldn’t use it straight away because I had a Nokia 1020 Windows phone which wasn’t compatible. I have since upgraded to an Android phone and started to use the SS002-1 – or at least tried to. It does work, but the battery simply doesn’t hold any charge for any length of time, even if you remember to turn it off every time you use it.

We got it from Argos in late December. We didn’t keep the packaging, but I do believe it said Cristal. I no longer see it on their website. Either way, it is easily the worst selfie stick we’ve had. We went back to the kind we bought in the US as soon as we returned here. It appears to be available in the UK as well, so we recommend this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00UV3MCK2/ref=twister_B01A6WNQD4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

We’ve had 3 of them and the only reason we needed 3 is we used the first to every single day travelling for 5 months and the mechanism for holding the phone broke both times, I suspect due to such heavy use. I suspect the newest one will last quite a lot longer as it’s in much lighter use now. Other than the breaking mechanism, it’s excellent and not especially expensive.
