Cementing Our Future

A big hello from HiJenx! We apologize for the massive gap in videos. We have been very busy with our real jobs 🙂 At the end of August, we headed up to Estrella in the wee hours of the morning to see the foundation of our new house laid. The first time, there was a bit of a false start in that there was a delay of a day. This is only to be expected with building works, but it did involve two very early days and traveling 220 miles in 2 days while working in the car when possible.

The day it finally did happen, a Tuesday, we arrived just before the cement trucks:

The foundations were not as simple as just putting cement down. They were carefully covering tension cables:

A very, very large piece of machinery arrived to put the cement in place, along with several cement trucks:

It took about 90 minutes and the men doing it were very pleasant and talkative in addition to seeming very confident in what they were doing:

Here’s the video:

Chris & Jess, wanted to say thank you for all your hard work to produce this content. I think i’m pretty much caught up on all the videos. We are going through the process of applying for my green card and hope to move from the UK to AZ in the first half of 2019 so your blogs are of great interest!
