Hello world!

Hello world!

We are Chris and Jess. I am from Western Wisconsin and Chris is from Slough, which is near Windsor. For the last five years, we’ve been married and living in Brighton, a beach town in the South East of England.

Brighton is known for being a tourist town with a rocky beach, lots of pubs and restaurants and lots of students. As lovely as it was though, we both feel ready to leave.

A few weeks ago, we left our jobs and last week we moved out of our flat. Naturally, nearly everything needed to go. We sold things on gumtree, packed up others and even destroyed a few things, like our memory foam mattress:Chris gutting the the memory foam mattress

Our plan is to travel across the US in search of a new place to live. Even though I am originally from Wisconsin, we are both very open to where we might live next. This blog is going to be a record of our adventures. We want to see as much of the US as possible before picking somewhere new to live.

For the next week or so, we are staying in Slough with Chris’s parents to see friends and get ready to go. For instance, Chris had always sort of wanted to see the grave of Karl Marx, so we went to Highgate Cemetery in London yesterday. We also saw the grave of Douglas Adams since we are both big sci fi fans and have been listening to Hitchhiker’s Guide on our travels so far.

Notice all the pens left by fans. I may have left one too.

Anyway, more to come and posts will be regular once we are in the US and properly on our journey. x

PS – We will also be vlogging our journey. Given we were moving when we started, this first video is a little late, but I do hope better late than never. This is a recording of our last moments in the flat we’d spent the last 5 years in.

It is well worth a visit. It’s actually oddly nice and non-depressing for a cemetery. It was so international. It had loads of graves in Polish, Chinese and plenty of other languages.

I am really loving the theme/design of your website. Do you ever run into any internet browser compatibility issues? A few of my blog audience have complained about my site not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Chrome. Do you have any recommendations to help fix this issue?
