We had to cross back through New York to get back south. We were kindly invited to stay with my friend Val’s parents, who also live in the burbs of Philly.<\/p>\n

The fastest route took us through the Bronx<\/a>. Even though we’d already decided against properly visiting New York City, we did briefly stop into the Bronx though and had a look around:<\/p>\n

The weather was still lackluster, but given this was just a driving day, we didn’t mind too much since it was just gloomy rather than pouring. What was more important was that I had the first real work either of us has done in months. I had a Skype video ESL lesson with my long term student in Germany. We were fortunate in that my Verizon signal was strong enough to allow me to tether to my laptop without any breaks in the signal all the way through the Bronx over into New Jersey:<\/p>\n
