\"2016-06-04<\/a>The Superstition mountains<\/a> are a range of mountains east of Phoenix. They were on my dad’s bucket list, so we thought we’d go check them out with my parents when they were here. They are continuation of the wetter higher desert that the man at Usury Mountain Park<\/a> told us about. It was an epic 116F when we did this, but honestly, it was still fine \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

They are called the Superstitions because some of the Apache<\/a> believed that a hole leading to the underworld, or hell, is located in them.<\/p>\n

We saw our first lake in Arizona in the mountains, canyon lake. It is a popular boating destination, though I doubt we will be using it any time soon as I don’t have the desire to own a boat in the desert and Chris gets sea sick.<\/p>\n

We went to what we thought would be a bit of a tourist trap. In many ways, it was, but Tortilla Flat<\/a>, a town of 6 and the last surviving stagecoach stop on the Apache Trail<\/a>. Despite its size, it still manages to have a post office and a restaurant with really excellent Mexican food.<\/p>\n
