We spent the morning doing the thing most people go to Roswell, New Mexico<\/a> for, the International UFO Museum:<\/p>\n

It was about as cheesy and odd as one would expect. They had some attempts at being serious, and the first part of the display shows the various forms of evidence they had, much of which was newspaper clippings, but some off which was a series of affidavits by people who claimed to have witnessed various things:\u00a0\"2015-09-18<\/a> \"2015-09-18<\/a><\/p>\n

It also had some of the explanations of the things they government claimed it really was, like a crash test dummy:
\n\"2015-09-18<\/a> Naturally there was plenty of fun, silly alien stuff too:\u00a0\"2015-09-18<\/a><\/p>\n

As it is meant to be about UFOs generally, they did expand out from the Roswell incident, and had things about other UFO sightings:<\/p>\n

By far the weirdest thing was their interpretation of Mayan art, which they believed meant that the Mayans had encountered aliens in ancient times. \u00a0This is a replica of the design that is on the top of a tomb of an unusually tall deceased male of the time:\"2015-09-18<\/a>It did give rise to some pretty funky art in the present:\u00a0\"2015-09-18<\/a>The town of Roswell has lots of fun with its alien heritage, and there is a lot of this sort of thing:

After chatting to someone in a shop (little of which was filmed unfortunately due to a fault of the iPhone 6) and learning a bit about Roswell beyond the alien stuff, we drove down one of the most remote stretches of road we’ve done so far. So much of New Mexico is utterly empty. We only passed 2 bits of civilization for probably 100 miles, and even those were barely\u00a0more than a gas station and a few houses. The sky looks so much bigger here because you can see for miles and miles and miles:\u00a0\"2015-09-18<\/a> \"2015-09-18<\/a> \"2015-09-18<\/a><\/p>\n

We even managed to catch a mini dust storm:<\/p>\n

We ended the evening in North Albuquerque<\/a> and the sunset was truly amazing. We are already quite impressed with its natural beauty:<\/p>\n

Two other good things about Albuquerque include the incredibly low humidity, which basically means it can be very hot, but you don’t or barely sweat. It was only 15% when we took those sunset shots. They also have a truly superb Chinese restaurant called\u00a0Jade<\/a>\u00a0that I highly recommend if you are in the area.<\/p>\n
