We crossed into Tennessee from Alabama almost immediately as Huntsville is right on the border. Something that is even more right on the border is a small town called Ardmore<\/a> where one side of the street is Alabama and the other is Tennessee. We confirmed this by speaking to a man using a riding lawn mower who lives on that street.
\n\"2015-08-27<\/a> We checked out a small town a bit past that called\u00a0Lewisburg<\/a>. We met some lovely locals having a garage sale who chatted with us, saying that they loved where they lived, but it didn’t have a lot of job opportunities.<\/p>\n

We carried on into Nashville<\/a> which is both the capital of Tennessee and of country music. Here’s the state capitol. It looks quite cool in the midday sun:<\/p>\n

Despite only spending the afternoon there, we managed to find some live country music and I managed to drink Jack Daniels at 4 o’clock in the afternoon:\u00a0 \"2015-08-27<\/a> \"2015-08-27<\/a> \"2015-08-27<\/a>In addition to being the home of country, Nashville seemed like a vibrant and up-and-coming city. We spoke to a police officer who was controlling traffic lights to keep the flow going. He said this happened frequently because Nashville just has so much going on. Music seemed to be the tip of the iceberg. It was clean, attractive and well organized:<\/p>\n

Given it is a touristy place as well as a generally nice one, we carried on toward cheaper motels. We spent the night in Dickson<\/a>, we didn’t go swimmingly. Only 3 star rated hotels (ratings from TripAdvisor, that is) were available, and there is a world of difference between 3 and 4. Also, on the way back from picking up some food, Chris made a single wrong turn that took us on a TWENTY mile detour. There was no faster way back and trying one just added an extra 2 miles on. We were not a fan of that. Nashville was a big plus for Tennessee, but such a long distance with no way to turn around was a bit negative.<\/p>\n
